The 356 Registry in Cambria

This past weekend, something special rolled into town.

The 356 Registry made a stop at the Cambria Pines Lodge, and I couldn’t pass up the chance to check it out again. I’ve caught this group before in passing, but when I heard they were coming through Cambria, I made it a point to show up—with camera in hand, of course.

What I found was a lineup that felt straight out of a time capsule: a full row of Porsche 356s, many of them Speedsters, parked side-by-side like a living museum exhibit. I overheard multiple people saying, “I’ve never seen this many Speedsters in one place before.” And honestly? Same. It was wild.

There’s something about seeing these cars in person that hits different. Sure, I’ve always leaned more toward modern builds, but older machines like these have a certain presence. A vibe. Or as the younger crowd says—aura.

Each 356 had its own story, and talking to some of the owners and enthusiasts reminded me why I love doing this. The cars themselves are works of art, but it’s the people, the passion, the history behind each one that makes them feel alive. You realize quickly that these aren’t just cars—they’re memories on wheels, driven and preserved by people who genuinely care.

I snapped a few photos and caught some small video clips while I was there—just moments frozen in time, but enough to hopefully show why these cars are so respected and admired. There’s a certain quiet elegance to a 356 Speedster. It’s not flashy, but it doesn’t need to be. It just is.

As someone who’s constantly behind the lens and often chasing the next event or build, this moment felt like a pause. A deep breath. A reminder of where it all started—not just for Porsche, but for the culture that continues to grow around these machines.

So here’s to the classics. To the stories. To the ones that paved the way.
